Topic: RE: How's everyone doing?
Hello. I am struggling with myself. I have regained weight since my surgery Aug 22, 2012 and am needing encouragement, information that I have forgotten over the years, and just plain people to talk to that understand what post RNY life is like.

Hello surgery sisters! I'm new to this site and group so I thougt I would introduce myself. My name is Cora , I'm 40 years young, married , have two grown children and first grandchild on the way. Like most of you I have struggled with my weight most of my life....... the hopeless "yo-yo" syndrome! In high school I managed to keep my weight somewhat stable playing basketball ,after graduation with the birth of my first child the weight gain started an d hasn't stopped since. I chose the sleeve because of past surgery on my colon. I'm scheduled October 5th with Dr. Alvarez in Mexico....... I'm excited, scared, and ready to start my new healthy life! So glad I found this site....... although my husband and kids are supportive of my decision it is so nice to be able to talk with people that have either had the surgery or like me waiting to have it done. Good luck to everyone with their journeys

If you go out under the Forums tab - let the drop down come up - then go out under the Rouen-y group, there are TONS of folks there that are more than willing to listen and try to help. However, remember, some of them shoot from the hip too and can come off as being abrasive but they are just trying to help.
I hope you get better soon - you have to find protein powder or drinks that go well, there are TONS out there. Follow the plan as they give to you - tweek it as needed to make it work better for you, and take your time, food will still be here, just have to take the baby steps to back to being able to chew and eat real food.
I am always here for you - I will come see you again and we can go over more then. I will dig out my books (if I still have them) and help you as much as I can!!
HUGS my bestie!

Welcome! Emotions are so completely normal. What surgery are you having? I am 2 weeks postop of RNY and am STILL a ball of emotions. Seeing food on TV and watching my son and husband eat regular food is so hard. I just keep telling myself that eventually I will be able to eat normal food!
I'm in the pureed food part of my post op diet and I just want to gobble up a bag of carrots! LOL Never thought i'd ever say that! Not only does the surgery prevent you from eating foods you shouldn't right away, it makes you appreciate healthy food so much more.
My best advice: Keep your chin up and remember, you will be able to eat again!!! It just takes a little bit after surgery.
So great to see more people join the group! Stay in touch!
